Thursday

While Toby was at daycare, we drove to the causeway to walk. The temperature was in the mid 50s, but the sun kept us from being too cold.

The temperature did reach 65 degrees this afternoon.

We picked Toby up after lunch. He took himself to his crate to nap in the sun.

It’s the only spot in the house with sunlight coming through the windows—at least at that time of the day.

They’re painting the bottom of the “egg” for the artists to paint turtles on. There will be two: the one on the water side will be a sea turtle and the one on the land side will be a gopher tortoise.

Toby’s working his brain for his dinner.

On our last walk of the day, we talked with the man we met at our last party. He was walking his dog. Toby and his dog, Ash, did a proper greeting and then ignored each other. Toby sat by my side for treats. We are going to their house soon to celebrate our neighbor’s birthday, along with two other couples who live nearby and whom we know—a total of 10 people. We noticed this awesome bottle brush tree in bloom.

I used to have a house plant like this.

John got a picture of our neighbor’s float for the witches of Dunedin. It’s a group of 35 women who organize flash mobs at local bars and sing and dance in witch costumes. People started paying them so they started raising money for local charities.

Ready for bed after a big day at daycare

This afternoon I wrote an email to the city manager, Jennifer Bradley, to thank her for coming to our neighborhood meeting and sharing all that information and to thank her for her leadership. She replied 31 minutes later to say she was honored to serve the people of Dunedin and told me to enjoy my new city.
