Friday

Today is John's birthday, so we decided to celebrate by changing things up. We dropped Toby off at daycare and went home to get our bikes so that we could ride downtown.

We got to see the new tile mosaic wall at Pioneer Park, showing all the legs of the city. It’s a clever idea since the mosaic covers a knee wall.

There was some sort of festival with live music.

We headed to Beall's Outlet and picked up some new clothes.

Then we headed to Happy's Bayou Bites and had a Shrimp Po' Boy sandwich.

It was amazing! I loved the bread. The tomato and cucumber salad was the best I've ever had.

While we were shopping, we got a call from K-9 Adventure saying that Toby had some scratches from playing. They wanted us to be prepared when we picked him up. The caretakers put some Bactine on wounds, but they let him keep on playing. The picture above shows John in one of his new pairs of pants.

Toby's wounds

Some gashes were bigger than others.

His pink skin and thin, white fur shows every injury. On most dogs, you probably couldn't even see these kind of boo boos.

Sleepy boy. We brought him home and put him in the crate to rest while we got back on our bikes and headed to the causeway to walk, since we missed our morning walk.

It was 81 degrees and sunny. We were slathered in SPF.

We saw an entirely different group of people from the morning walkers. The Friday afternoon walkers are much younger.

John's new shorts.

It was a full day. No time to rest.

For us, anyway.

Birthday dinner: scrambled eggs topped with diced tomatoes and avocados, grits, and a fruit salad. Sparkling water with lime.

Same but with cottage cheese.

After dinner, our neighbors dropped by with treats to celebrate John’s birthday.
