After walking Toby this morning, we rode our bikes out to the causeway to walk. Temperatures were in the upper 60s. The scene above looks like the New England coast, to me.
Winds were light but picked up before we finished. We saw lots of sailboats.
The temperature eventually got up to 85 degrees, just about perfect.
We took a detour on our walk in order to go to an open house in the condo above. It was a ground floor, completely updated, 2 bedroom/2 bath condo. Interior view (no water view). $415,000. Interestingly, this unit was bought for $141,000 (not a typo) in 2019, clearly updated afterwards.
Overall, we were surprised that these condos looked so good. They had high ceilings and were up to date, with nice amenities (heated, year-round pool, tennis, shuffle board, club house, covered parking, car wash area, and of course the Dunedin Causeway Trail across the street.) The condos are restricted to 55+ buyers, so it’s quiet, right outside the Honeymoon Island State Park entrance. These were built in 1972 before the city bought the island from developers. The original plan of the developers was to substantially enlarge the island and have condos like these all over the island, like Clearwater Beach. The city ended up gifting the island to the state to make it a state park open to the public and left undeveloped. It’s now the #1 visited park in the state with more than one million visitors a year.
Some more of our lilies.
Our azalea bush
We’re thinking of having a bark mitzvah for Toby when he turns two to celebrate his becoming an adult dog (June 20). By then, he may have graduated advanced training, so we can celebrate that too.
Toby’s had a good day. We’ve cut back significantly on his treats. We take them on walks to use only if we have to. He’s getting better responding without treats. It actually improves his focus on us. Go figure. I hope it helps with training on Monday.
