Wednesday

We had a sunny but very breezy walk on the causeway this morning. The winds were blowing at least 15 mph. The temperature ranged from 70 to 85 today. Clouds are moving in and rain begins tonight. Rain is predicted for tomorrow, most of the day.

The water was clear, but there were whitecaps.

We passed this woman and her very old dog. On our way back we ran into them again at the restroom where the dog was getting some water. We told her we loved her dog. She said, “This is his last beach walk. He’s very old and sick. We are on the way to the vet. He hasn’t been out here in a very long time. He’s almost 13. This is his happy place and mine too.” I felt so bad for them, especially her. I told her that we did the same thing for our dog on her last day. It’s very tough.

Lilies from our last walk of the day.

Toby’s had a good day. We hand fed him his dinner and worked on the “come” command. We are all enjoying the longer days.

John went with a friend to help with her dog training class. She has two dogs enrolled at the same time, so someone has to help with one of them. It’s a different facility and trainer, but the same commands. It’s a beginner class. John was a good person to ask since we’ve been in dog training classes since August.
