The ground cover in the front bed is spreading out nicely, and blooming.
Our little Blue Daze (Lithodora) came back from the winter (a little more purple than blue).
After lunch the three of us set out to go in the golf cart to my doctor's office to get a print out of my doctor's orders for a blood re-test. Because I was fasting and didn't have any water for twelve hours before the previous draw, she wants to redo my renal profile when I'm hydrated to make sure my kidneys are functioning properly.
We stopped at the community center to let Toby sniff and pee. It was sunny and 77 degrees.
We passed a gardenia bush in full bloom.
It was fun finding the golf cart route to the doctors. We went through the downtown historic district, past Wood, Scotland, Wilkie, Lyndhurst and turned on Beltrees (where the baseball stadium is, near the library) and went to Patricia. The doctor’s office is on the limited part of Patricia that is open to golf carts, near the southernmost portion of Dunedin.
On the way back downtown, we stopped at the Dunedin Fresh Market (not the chain Fresh Market) to say hi to a friend who works there and to check out the produce. It looked great and the prices were better than Publix. We're going to try to put this place on our route. It's near the bowling alley and Chatterbox Cafe.
An artist was painting a mural on the side of the building.
Dunedin Fresh Market is located in an old house. How cute is that?
Back downtown, we parked the golf cart in the lot across from the train station.
We gradually made our way to the Marina Park. Parks are a twofer: there are restrooms for us and for Toby. We all made use of the facilities.
When we walked through downtown, we knew something was off. There were food trucks serving people but not the general public. Then we saw RVs with A/Cs blowing. When we saw this Dunedin Police car, it clicked: they were filming that movie with Dean Cain playing the mayor. Dunedin doesn’t have a police force. The Pinellas County sheriffs are our law enforcement officers.
Then we saw these fliers posted all around town, also part of the movie.
This sign, though, was real.
Toby’s golf cart adventure.
On our causeway walk this morning, we passed this couple celebrating "Bob" on the beach.
The temperature was in the upper 60s when we started at 9:30 and in the lower 70s when we finished at 11:30. The high today was 84.
We took our new morning walking route: parked the golf cart at Stirling Park and walked the Pinellas Trail north to the Dunedin Causeway, then walked to Honeymoon Island and back, about 7 miles.
We passed this Wood Stork wading in the tidal ditch.
St. Joseph's Sound was beautiful.
The last mile on the return is mostly shaded, until afternoon.
We did a last Toby walk and included some training at Stirling Park. This time I used a ball instead of food to reward him. After he did some commands, I tossed the ball for him to fetch. We forgot the cardinal rule of dog fetching: always use two balls or you’ll never get the ball back. Indeed, it quickly became a Toby game of keep away from Perry and John. The only problem is that we left his leash attached, which quickly got tangled around his feet, running at full speed. Flashing through my mind was how I would explain to the vet how my dog managed to break three legs at the same time. Thanks to our training, we were able to calm him down and end his dangerous game before anyone got hurt.
No sorrows tonight. In fact, just before I took this selfie John blurted out: “I am living my dream,” and his smile shows it.
