Monday

This morning, we rode our bikes out to the squid on the causeway (where the restrooms are) and then walked out to Honeymoon Island and back.

We got off our bikes to walk them across the narrow bridges, as the new signs instructed. Some folks are still not on board with the new rules. We actually had people to ring their bike bells and ask us to move over as we walked ours.

The water was so colorful today.

And so clear, at the same time.

There’s a derelict sailboat washed up on the dog beach. Its name is Capella, which we thought was ironic. Capella means "a star of the first magnitude." I guess it was an aspirational name because the star is now grounded.

We walked north and turned around where the mangrove trees get more plentiful at the high tide line.

A decent farmer's tan. John was afraid I would burn.

Kayakers on their way to Caladesi Island

After lunch, the three of us rode in the golf cart downtown to walk around.

We parked at the Dunedin Smokehouse and hugged the south side of the street to find the most shade. The temperature was in the mid 80s with a decent breeze.

And we did some sidewalk shopping and walking.

We walked down to the marina.

After dinner, the three of us rode in the golf cart to Stirling Park to walk and watch the sun set.

John got some flower pictures with St. Andrews condominiums in the background.

Toby remembers where every fish bone is. The birds bring fish from the sound and knock the bones out of their nests after they’ve eaten them.

On the way home, we drove around Highlander Park and looked at the baseball and tennis games being played. Toby took it all in. We passed a neighbor who said “You’ve got a good riding dog there.” We both laughed because it was a rare moment when Toby was still. Typically, he’s squirming around.

Toby took a catnap waiting for us to get ready this morning. That’s the mat we took to training for him to learn “go to your bed.”

Speaking of training, we learned today that advanced training class begins Monday, May 9 at 3:00 p.m. I think it will be less stressful this time because we know what to expect. This class will be our 5th class, second advanced class.

Miles walked: 10.8
Miles biked: 7.25
