Monday

Happy July 4th!

Since it was the holiday, we felt the need to get out of town and take a road trip. So we rode our bikes to Wall Springs Park this morning after our neighborhood Toby walk. We wanted to stay in the shade as there was zero breeze, and we wanted to give our feet a break. The picture above is the tunnel entrance under Alt. 19 on the Pinellas Trail. We left Wall Springs Park to get filtered water at the Dunn Water Plant about 1/4 mile north on the trail, towards Tarpon Springs.

We walked up the look-out tower in Wall Springs Park.

We had our first avocado from our tree for lunch. It took several days to ripen, but it did. Now I know I can pick one a day and have a daily supply of avocados for several months. In the years' past, I kept waiting for them to ripen on the tree, not knowing that that's not how avocados ripen. We added some strawberries, peaches, cantaloup, apples, red grapes, blueberries, yogurt, and cottage cheese.

After lunch, we took Toby in the go cart to Highlander Park to walk in the shade.

Toby still gets the zoomies sometimes. I happened to catch him in mid air.

Later, he did a face plant in the grass and refused to budge.

The cool grass felt good to his belly.

We headed to the neighbors' pool party at 2:00. We ate, swam, talked, and came home around 5:30.

It was mostly sunny today and hot, about 90 degrees. Thunderstorms moved in around 6:00 and threatened until it finally rained at 7:00.

We all three went out to sit in the garage and watch it rain.

John’s laughing at Toby’s expression in the previous picture.

Last walk of the day under a pretty rainbow.

It turned into a vivid double rainbow!
