Sunday

The forecast called for rain by 12:30, so we decided to ride our bikes downtown at 8:00 and park after walking Toby. Then we walked north, all the way to Publix for a bathroom break and water refill. Next, we walked back downtown to our bikes. On the way home, I stopped at Weaver Park to exercise, while John went back to Publix to pick up a dessert for the party we're going to tomorrow. The shot above is from the Pinellas Trail looking east at Curlew Creek.

The goal this morning was to walk in the shade and get a workout in before lunch and the rain.

An hour after John dropped me off at Weaver Park, he rode back down to Weaver Park, and we rode back home together.

We had a cloudy day and that kept the temperature down to the mid 80s. The breeze was light. We like walking in the shade, but miss the views of the water on the causeway walk.

After all our effort, the rain never came! But we did pack a lot in one morning. We drove Toby to Lake Saundra in the go cart after lunch for a walk. The park was decorated with American flags.

We helped our neighbor unload a piece of furniture and got a smoked chicken in return. I cut the meat off the bones and put it away for future dinners.

This evening, we rode our bikes to the Causeway Plaza for our regular Sunday chicken egg foo yung.

We passed a raccoon squirrel. They tend to stay on the Dunedin golf course, especially where it abuts the Pinellas Trail.

I think they enjoy having an audience.

On our last walk around the neighborhood, Toby got ambushed by a charging dog that got loose. Fortunately, it was a good dog and only wanted to sniff and play, but it was nerve wracking not knowing what was going to happen. Toby played it cool. He froze and went submissive. The owner, whom we know, came out and apologized. She told us someone had been talking to her about what a good dog Toby was. We work hard for these moments.
