We saw dolphins on our brief causeway walk this morning. The temperature was in the low 80s, but there was hardly any breeze. We made it to the bath house when I told John I had to turn around. It was just too hot.
Seeing the dolphins was definitely the highlight of the walk.
They were about 15 feet off the causeway shore.
There were at least four of them, swimming in circles.
Since we had biked out to the causeway, we decided to ride on the shaded Pinellas Trail down to Clearwater and generate a breeze of our own via bike.
We wanted to check out the waterfront park progress.
Mostly just moving dirt now, but the proposed pictures look really nice.
The location is amazing. It’s a forty foot bluff overlooking Clearwater harbor and the inter coastal waterway.
Downtown Clearwater looked pretty dead at 11:00 a.m. It's a shame. I think the city has a lot of potential. I hope this park will begin to turn things around. They already have a beautiful causeway, beach, and marine aquarium. Clearwater is the county seat, so it has many government buildings and offices. Population: 116,000.
We stopped at Stevenson Creek to take a picture of the condominium progress.
Mango, cantaloup, strawberries, apples, raspberries, cottage cheese, and yogurt. I had leftover eggplant and rice with a side of green beans and marinaded cucumbers for lunch. John had a smoked chicken sandwich and fruit bowl. We were hungry after our long bike ride.
Today was Dogtopia day for Toby. We dropped him off at 8:30 after walking him in the neighborhood first.
We watched him play on the Webcam several times during the day. We are accustomed to 1/2 days, but with the new management, we are now using full days. He was mostly walking around and occasionally humping other dogs. There were at least three other dogs who were humping more than he was. Some slept. Some got put in time out for obsessive humping. Toby was stealthy. He did it while the human wasn't looking. As soon as she turned around, he quit. He never sat down while we were watching. Constant motion.
He was a tired dog on the way home. I can always tell by looking at his eyes. When he's tired they are red and droopy looking.
While we ate our dinner, he ate his and then put himself in his crate. We had Thai basil shrimp from New Bamboo.
Last walk of the day
We lost power again last night from midnight till 2:00 a.m. There were thunderstorms nearby off and on this afternoon, but so far, no rain.
Today’s bike route to the Dunedin causeway and downtown Clearwater
Miles walked: 6.3
Miles biked: 17.41
