Wednesday

Toby went to puppy daycare today. We took a look via webcam at noon, just at the moment where the minders are rounding up the dogs to go into their crates, arrayed around the perimeter of the room. In the picture above, Toby immediately gets into a sit and tries to hide out almost sitting under the brown dog because he does not like to go into the crate. I think he's having too much fun playing.

The minders are making progress crating the dogs, so Toby gets even smaller, getting into a down and hiding behind the brown dog.

His cover is blown as the minder rounds up and crates more dogs.

He's the last dog left!

Most of the dogs are regulars, meaning they come every day or several times a week, so they know the routine. Many of them just walk to their crates on their own for nap time. Toby, on the other hand, only attends daycare every other week. He'd rather play the entire day without a break. But it's good that they enforce nap time.

We picked him up just before 5:00. He was exhausted. Walking around all day in circles is a lot of work.

In the meantime, John and I rode our bikes downtown and walked from Main Street to Palm Boulevard and back, speaking of walking in circles! The wind was blowing at 1 mph in full sun on the causeway, but the Pinellas Trail was nicely shaded.

We took some parallel streets to the trail for some scenic variety. This house caught John's eye. Lots of stuff going on here. There was even a bat mobile for sale, as in a toy that children put quarters in and ride.

We made it back downtown just in time for lunch, so we headed over to Carvor's since we didn't have to get back to Toby.

Yum!

They had a fish and chips special that we couldn't pass up, even though fried food is a no no for both of us. That only made the food taste that much better. John says it's okay to splurge every now and then.

We passed our neighbor heading downtown on his bike as we were heading home. He said the rain was coming and that we better hurry home. We didn't quite make it. The last mile was in a downpour. It rained off and on for the next couple of hours.

We took a warm shower and settled in to watch "Virgin River" on Netflix. It's getting better and better.

We also vacuumed and mopped while Toby was away. That's funny that we take our dog to daycare so we can clean house. How crazy is that?

Miles walked: 10
Miles biked: 6.57

  1. I am watching Virgin River tonight. So good! So happy to be home. I mowed and went to Cap 10. It is so stinking hot. No rain. So I am watering again tonight.
