Sunday

We rode downtown in Toby’s go cart late this afternoon. It was good to be moving and under the shade of the cart. Toby had a great time as usual.

We walked around downtown and on the Pinellas Trail. A German Shepherd got away from its owner and came running towards Toby full speed. Fortunately, Toby froze and the dog stopped short of touching him. The owner came to retrieve his dog without a word of apology. It could have been a bad scene.

After lunch, I rode my bike down to the edge of Clearwater, just past Stevenson Creek in the photos above and below.

Biking is the easiest exercise because it’s so much fun. The Pinellas Trail provides lots of things to look at.

It was low tide and moderately shaded, but it was hot, 89 degrees.

Before my bike ride, we took Toby in his go cart to Lake Saundra for a short, shaded walk.

He was being a jerk, jumping at the leash. I let go to avoid turning it into a game of tug of war.

I had to coax him back under control.

It was pretty easy. He really just wanted to play. I’m glad he’s not the sort of dog that likes to run off.

This squirrel had a front row seat.

There was a yoga class on the causeway this morning as we walked by, complete with a sound system for the teacher and music.

What a great place to do yoga.

John got this shot of two stingrays swimming under the bridge.

He also got this shot of the dog at the front of the boat. He told the man that the dog was his best boat accessory.

We rode the go cart to Stirling Park this morning earlier than usual and walked to the causeway from there. That made for a 7 mile walk. By lunch, we had already walked over 9 miles.

John took this picture from our last walk of the day. The flowers are around our mailbox.

We finished watching Someone Has to Die on Netflix. It had a Shakespearean ending: everyone who was bad died in a final shootout (the father, grandmother), and the two really good people lived, the gay son and his mother. Collateral deaths came to the gay son’s childhood friend, his first love, and the son’s straight, adult friend who had an affair with the gay son’s mother. Fittingly, the shootout happened at a shooting club. The ending was foreshadowed by the camera’s focus on a pile of dead pigeons (killed at the shooting range) at the beginning of the climatic scene.

I ordered up something less heavy from John, as he chooses our next movie.

Today’s bike routes to Clearwater and the Causeway Plaza

Miles walked: 12.4
Miles biked: 16.09
