Wednesday

We've had a cloudy and windy day with the approach of Hurricane Nicole. Tonight, the winds were around 25 mph. Rain begins around 2:00 a.m. with winds between 20-30 mph. The forecast is for rain for Thursday, tapering off Friday morning.

Somehow, I put my shirt on backwards for one of Toby's walks.

We rode our bikes to the causeway this morning. The wind was blowing about 14 mph, which made walking a bit of a challenge. The temperature was around 70 and never got warmer than 75 degrees.

Those are some sturdy paddlers out there.

I drove our car to the outdoor gym at Weaver Park because of the the threat of rain and stiff winds. I exercised for an hour.

After our morning causeway walk, we took Toby in the golf cart to Bambino's to pick up Strombolis for lunch. We're hoping the change in weather will calm down Toby's allergies. It's a bit of a challenge to wipe him down after every outing and showering him every night.

John made a bowl of chili for dinner and for the rainy and windy day tomorrow.

We watched Harry Styles' new movie "My Policeman" on Amazon Prime. It was long and slow moving, but good. It was very sad because it was about two gay men, one of whom was married, trying to work out their complicated lives in 1957. The film jumped back and forth from the present to 1957. It would have been terrible to be gay in the 50s.

Recently, we finished watching season 2 of Young Royals on Netflix. I won't spoil the plot, but it had a great final episode. I hope there will be a season 3. The theme of season 2 was that traditions are good, but they must evolve in order to remain authentic because it is natural for humans to grow and change. If traditions don't change, then the institutions (in this case, monarchies) which perpetuate them must learn to lie and repress that with doesn't conform to those traditions. The lies and repression will, in the end, destroy those institutions and all that are associated with them. Another way of putting it is that traditions are there to serve the needs of those people in the institution, not the other way around. The institution is not there to serve the needs of tradition; it is there to serve the needs of the people.

  1. Keep us posted on your weather. I close my gym sometimes with a 1 minute plank. Today I told Tyson that I wanted to try for 2 minutes and I made it.
