Sunday

We rode our bikes to the causeway and parked. Then walked out to Honeymoon Island to the end of dog beach.

February is like autumn in other places. Leaves fall. The landscape awaits the new growth of spring.

We walked to the tip of Dog Beach this morning.

It was low tide so there was plenty of beach to walk on.

The park rangers removed all of the wooden structures on the beach after the latest tropical storm. They got tired of replacing them. Now that have installed roll up matting for getting through the sand to the beach. There aren't any more dunes to cross. They are all gone, as is the newly planted vegetation meant to hold the dunes.

Bath house #1.

They've replaced the water fountains with filtered water fountains. Much better. So, all is not in a state of deterioration.

It's not just our imagination. December and January have been cloudier in Florida than any similar stretch in the last 84 years for the state.

Tampa was cloudy 68% of the time verses 48% last year. We felt like we were living in North Carolina this winter: Gray skies, no sun.
