Our insurance is up for renewal, so we wanted to make sure our coverage is adequate after our recent renovation project. The agent asked for construction invoices and pictures. So I took these.
We haven't heard back yet, but we did get an email yesterday saying that we had been approved for renewal, which in Florida is a relief. Insurance companies drop folks all the time or decide not to renew.
Because it was already 80 degrees at 9:00 a.m., we decided to take the golf cart down to Stirling Park and then jog and walk to downtown on the mostly shaded Pinellas Trail. Round trip, it was about 5 miles. We probably jogged about half of it.
The afternoon was spent waiting for the AC technician to come unclog our drain. The AC had cut off this morning when the tray filled with water and triggered the cut off switch. We just had it blown out in August.
The technician recommended replacing the drain line, saying it was likely lined with calcium deposits. He got it cleared though and suggested in the meantime, to continue our monthly regimen of filling the drain line with vinegar and hot water. For extra effectiveness, he suggested attaching our wet/dry vac to the outflow line outside the house after we pour in the hot water. He said that would be even more effective at clearing a clog than the vinegar and water.
So I ordered a wet filter for our shop vac, the one we inherited with the house. And since the lining of the AC unit got wet when the pan flooded, he recommended leaving the AC off for a few days to let it dry. Replacing the lining is expensive. Better now than in August I suppose. We are both reliving our early childhoods in Florida without AC.
I noticed a malfunctioning sprinkler head in the backyard. It was shooting water at the window sill. I found a replacement part in my drawer full of sprinkler parts. It works perfectly now.
While I was wet and into sprinkler repair, I investigated a pop-up sprinkler in the front yard that was barely putting out any water. I made some adjustments to no avail. So I removed the head while it was running. A rooster tail shot up and over the front yard, making a mud hole where it landed. I shut down the system and looked for a replacement part. I found one and it worked. I noticed another pop-up functioning poorly, so I did the same thing for it. All in all, I fixed three sprinklers. And this is why I try not to look at them, because there's always one or two that need attention.
